Diego Kusak in China

My "China Experience" personal page

Kunming

My father lived here between 1943 to 1946. The city has changed a lot. I hope to show some contrasts on that.

Also, I want to show why I like this city.

Please go to www.gokunming.com for anything related to this great city.

Picture taken in 1943. Probably by my father.

The same place a few years later. These are reconstructions as the originals were destroyed during the war.

This one is from a slide taken by my father in 1944 or 1945.
Notice the 3 soldiers with different uniforms walking on the background left.
My father's friend is watching a game of chance. I have been told you can see a similar game in many fairs around China or even at the Kunming Zoo.

Specially, notice the bottom left part with the fruits on a stick.

Same fruits on a stick a few years later... Well, not exactly those same fruits... Ok, I will add the Chinese name soon.

They are like small bitter apples covered in very sweat candy. Imagine my surprise when I came here and saw them just as they were in a old picture.

Steve Kusak in Kunming after Victory Day

This picture of Steve Kusak is taken after Victory Day in Kunming. You can tell from the colorful sign my dad has behind him.

Diego Kusak in Kunming 2009. Maybe taken from same location.

This is a picture of myself trying to recreate the picture before this one.

This yellow building is protected by the City of Kunming. It had some relation to the Flying Tigers or the US military.  I am unsure at the moment.

Plaque on wall of building.

More another day...
